What did we learn about this week?
This week we learned how to create screen casts, which was super cool because I always wanted to learn how to. My personal experience with this creating screen casts was so smooth and simple that I definitely think it is something I would reuse in my classroom, the website I used is called Screencastify, and it’s free! When I become a teacher I plan to have different sites like Epic! books and others open to students and if they are sites that they can access from home I feel like making a screen cast is a great way to make a quick personal tutorial to post on my class site. This way if I have parents who aren’t familiar with the different sites they can access a tutorial led by me at any time they need. I feel like this could also be a good resource for a TTOC if I am out for the day and they would need to use a site that is in our classroom and they aren’t familiar with it then they could have a step by step tutorial of how it works as well. Another way you could go about using screen casts is for your principal if you are trying to show them a new site that you think should be supplied to all the teachers in your school or district. For an example of how I would potentially create a screen cast for a parent or TTOC who was unaware of how to use a site I use in my classroom I included a screen cast of me using Epic! books.

How will this affect my teaching?
I think that this is such a cool thing to have learned how to do. I personally find technology really dawnting sometimes and getting to learn through this class is amazing because we get to learn all sorts of different tools. Screen casts are so amazing! Now that I have the confidence to use it I think it wouold be a great tool to use when trying to help your students guradians learn how to use the different online tools you use in your classroom. You can’t expect your kids guardians to automatically learn or know how to use the different online tools, you need to guide them and help them and be patient and using screen casts is a great way to do that.
In my Free Inquiry…
This week while I was working on my free inquiry project I also had a major discovery that there is this amazing YouTube page called Learn How to Sign. It has so many amazing resources and videos that I even had to go back and add their introductory video to my first-ever blog post because it was so amazing.
