This week I learned my ABC’s by watching a YouTube video that I believe would be good to show to elementary aged kids who are learning their ABC’s in ASL (American Sign Language).  I chose this specific video because I really liked how slow and exaggerated her movements were, this helps kids have more time to see what they need to do.

I also learned how to sign my name and say ā€œmy name is Ryan. What is your name?ā€. I also created a name tag that has my name in signs on the top and my name written out below. This was super cool to learn, and I personally think it is the most important thing to learn first because I can now at least introduce myself to someone using ASL and have a small conversation with people who use ASL.

There is also a part two to this video and there are other videos along these lines on the Learn How To Sign Youtube page.

Above is my name tag I created.

What did I learn?

This week I got to learn how to spell my name this is something that I have learned before. So while I was relearning the alphabet it came back to me slowly. I realized that just liked any other language if you don’t use it you lose it. So I have learned that if I don’t want to lose it this time it is something that I will have to continuously work on and with.
